Over the past few months in various locations around Australia, there has been a new trend happening – the Pop-Up Wedding! The pop-up wedding is all about getting married with a celebrant to perform a civil marriage ceremony, a photographer to take a few happy pics of the event, a picturesque location to use for about an hour and apart from the required witnesses – there are no guests or a minimal number…..some venues, may even provide cupcakes for a sweet celebration after the event. No fuss, no expensive reception and none of the added emotional and financial stress that goes with larger weddings.
Couples need to register for these event, there is a fee involved which is shared between the suppliers and at the end of the day – you’re married!! Pop-up weddings are a great marketing tool for the celebrant, the venue and the photographer and there’s nothing wrong with a pop- up wedding. However after, let’s say, twelve couples on the day have married this way – would you feel like you have had a unique, intimate ceremony or would it be something just a little more fancier than the usual registry office affair?

A couple just have to contact a celebrant, meet all of the legal obligations within the required time frames, sneak away to a beautiful location and away you go…..happily ever after – Mr & Mrs!!
