Every time I ask this question, “What is the most important aspect of your wedding day?” -not unexpectedly, I receive a different answer. Your wedding day is one of the highlights of your life and everyone has a different take on what makes the day special.

  • Is it the dress?
  • Is it the food and wine at the reception?
  • Is it your choreographed first dance as husband & wife or the music?
  • Is it having an album full of beautiful photos?
  • Is it the location?
  • Is it the style of the event?
  • Is it the flowers, centerpieces and colours?
  • Is it the time shared with family and friends?
  • Is it writing your own vows?
  • Is it the gifts and registry?

My husband and I will celebrate our tenth wedding anniversary next year. We absolutely loved our wedding day but neither of us remember what we ate or drank at the reception. Our favourite photo is on display but the others are in the album…stored away. What we do remember and will forever is our ceremony and the smiles on our faces as we greeted each other to begin our lives as husband and wife.

Our ceremony, set the tone for the events to follow. It is my hope and inspiration that the couples that I have the honour of marrying feel the same way about their ceremony as I felt about mine!
